  • In the Dress of Mourning series, Trine Søndergaard works with her interest in sorrow and the processing of grief. The historic black costumes are from Denmark and Germany and signify grief and death. The series shows not only what we see, but also what the women are hiding. The black cloth covers a body – a form that we can only imagine – and is thus also about the sculptural aesthetics offered by the black bodies.
